Quilted Maple (Acer Macrophyllum) is a medium hardwood from the coastal regions of Pacific North America. The "quilted" part of the name comes from the grain anomaly found in areas of trauma or insect/fungus attacks on the Bigleaf Maple tree. The "quilts" refract light in a shimmery, eye-catching way that look like ocean waves. These knife racks are made by our friend Steve Preeg in Murietta, CA. Please Keep in mind that these are natural materials and although Steve works them to near perfection, natural materials have inclusions, blemishes, etc.
